상대방이 약간 무리한 부탁을 했지만, 승락할 때 쓰이는 표현이다.

    A : Can I use your restroom?

    A: 화장실 좀 쓸 수 있을까요?

    B: 네, 그러세요.

Beats me.(=You've got me.) 나도 몰라.

    A : Do you know where Emily is?

    B : Beats me. I haven't seen her all day

    A : Emily는 어디있니?

    B : 나도 몰라. 하루 종일 못 본걸.

Big deal! 대단한데.

    A : Congratulations! I heard you got accepted to Harvard. Big deal!

    B : Thanks, I'm really excited about going.

    A : 축하해. 너 Harvard에 입학 허가를 받았다고 들었어. 대단하구나.

    B : 고마워. 나도 거기 간다는 생각에 들떠 있어.

Count me in. 나도 포함시켜줘.

제안이나 초대에 대해 승락할 때 주로 쓰이며, 같이 가거나 어떤 행동을 하겠다는 뜻이다.

    A : 이번 주말에 우리랑 캠핑 갈래?

    B : 그래, 나도 갈거야.

Count me out. 난 제외시켜줘.

제안이나 초대에 대해 거절할 때 쓰는 표현으로, "count me in "과 반대의 뜻이다.

    A : We're going to a party tonight. Want to come?

    B : I have to study for a Economics test. Count me out.

    A : 우리는 오늘 밤 파티에 갈건데, 너도 갈래?

    B : 난 경제학 시험 공부해야해. 난 빼고 가.

상대방의 말이 사실과 다르거나 틀릴 때 주로 쓰는 표현이다.

상대방이 뭔가 나쁜 소식을 말하거나 듣고 싶지 않은 내용을 말하려고 할 때, 이미 그 내용을 짐작하고 있다는 뜻의 표현이다.

    A : 좋지 않은 소식이 있어.

    B : 뭔지 알겠어. 너 또 우리 약속을 취소하려는 거니?

First thing's first. 우선 급한 일이 먼저야. 중요한 걸 먼저 해.

    A : 너 다음 학기에 어떤 과목을 들을 지 정했니?

    A : Linda랑 데이트할 기회가 나한테 올 거라 생각하니?

    B : 쉽게 말하자면 말야. 번개에 맞는 게 더 쉬울걸.

    B : It's no big deal. I caught up on my reading.
